Labor and Birth

At AMFW, we approach labor and birth as a deeply personal experience, guided by respect for physiologic birth and decades of midwifery experience. Our care reflects a balance between respect for normal, physiologic birth and the thoughtful, judicious use of interventions when they are truly needed. We support both birth center and hospital birth, and help guide decisions as pregnancy and labor unfold.

Many pregnancies begin in a low-risk category, and for these people, birth center care can offer excellent outcomes. Others may feel more comfortable in a hospital setting, or have medical considerations that make hospital birth the better choice. Because pregnancy and labor can change over time, the most appropriate birth setting is something we continue to evaluate together throughout care. We partner with individuals and families to support informed choices, open communication, and care that reflects both medical needs and personal values. In either setting, our role remains the same: to provide excellent, supportive care and clear guidance throughout the process.
